Are you sick of high cable costs?
Cable prices are going through the roof. If you put a cable box in each bedroom and one in your living room, you can expect to have bills approaching over $100 per month. If you think about it, all the cable company does is provide a wire to your home that delivers someone else’s programming.
The Internet is providing an alternative. The promise of the Internet is to have hundreds of thousands of different viewing choices. Every website has the potential to show video clips, music and movies. With all that entertainment available, why do you need the cable company?
The cable company provides an easy-to-use push-button controller. All the channels are clearly defined. Most of those companies have an Internet website. A good example was ESPN’s broadcast of the Superbowl. Anyone with a computer or smart phone could have watched the Superbowl.
To watch TV on the Internet, you need a computer to decode the Internet signal. Since that requires some technical knowledge, most people are not comfortable with hooking their computers to their TVs. Some companies like ROKU offer a specialized computer that is so easy to use, you only need to plug it into the wall and one of the available jacks you find on the back of the new TVs.
The ROKU box links to your wireless Internet Connection. The cool thing is there is no monthly cost for the ROKU box. You buy it once and your done. You can subscribe to services like NetFlicks for as little as $8 per month and have an on-demand movie library similar to Showtime or HBO. The cool thing is you don’t need to wait for them to show the movies, you can watch them anytime you want. There are also free services like HULU that provide thousands of TV programs available when ever you want.
The ROKU boxes start at about $60. That’s probably less than one month’s cable service. Imagine cutting your entertainment expense from $100 to less than $10. Who couldn’t use an extra $90 per month?
Roku + Netflix = Instant Movies on your TV starts at $59.99
